Pentest FAQ
Questions we hear most.
Q01How frequently should penetration testing be done?+
It depends on your operations and how likely you are to be targeted. Organizations handling highly sensitive data or critical infrastructure should test several times a year. Others can test around major updates, such as new feature rollouts or significant system changes.
Q02Why would someone target my site if I don't store sensitive data?+
Attacks aren't always about stealing data. Attackers may test their skills, use your server to spread malware, host phishing pages or monetize it in other ways. Many attacks are automated and scan thousands of sites at once — victims are often chosen at random.
Q03How much does a penetration test cost?+
Cost depends on what needs testing and how deep the testing should go. A more extensive test requires more time and resources. Ask us for a personalized quote to get an accurate estimate.
Q04Should testing happen in production or pre-production?+
It depends on your goals. Pre-production mirrors the final setup without affecting users. Production tests real-world conditions with the latest changes, giving the most accurate picture of your security posture.
Q05How do you present the flaws you find?+
You receive a comprehensive audit report covering what was tested, the methods used, each vulnerability and how it can be exploited — with screenshots, data excerpts and attack replay scenarios.
Q06Do you test for denial of service (DoS) attacks?+
Yes. On request we can simulate a DoS attack to uncover weaknesses in your system's configuration or application that aren't related to your hosting provider.
Q07Who is responsible for fixing the issues found?+
Your technical team fixes the issues, guided by detailed remediation advice for every finding. Bugquell then verifies that fixes are properly implemented and haven't caused problems elsewhere.
Q08What happens to any confidential information you find?+
We don't collect or store confidential data found during a test. Anything sensitive is referenced anonymously in the report, and reports are kept for a limited time before being securely deleted.
